BUNYORO KINGDOM

This Kingdom is well known for opposing the colonialists in the 1900s, there king is known as Omukama it is found in the North West of Uganda. This Kingdom was the biggest empire in East Africa ranging in Burundi, Kenya, DRC, and Tanzania due to the Kingdom’s resistance to the colonialists.

The home city is the capital of the Kingdom found near Murchison Falls. In this Kingdom, they are mostly pastoralists and agriculture mostly depending on coffee. Recently the kingdom was discovered to be holding oil.

TOORO KINGDOM

The Kingdom stretches from the city of Fort portal to the Mountains of Rwenzori and the crater lakes. There is also called Omukama. The Kingdom depends on agriculture more than cattle as the region is just recovering with cattle. Crops like Tea, coffee, and others.

The kingdom also has a settlement at the slopes of the mountain called Kabalore meaning let them see people can settle at the slopes of the mountain.

IGONGO CULTURAL MUSEUM

The Igongo cultural center is located in the west of Uganda and it is the cultural centrality of the Ankole Kingdom. This cultural center features a museum of the Ankole culture. The cultural food, the eclipse monument also known as The Biharwe monument in the local language and cultural shops

GADDAFI NATIONAL MOSQUE

This mosque was built by the former president of Libya Colonel Muammar Gaddafi as a gift to the Muslims in Uganda. The mosque was opened in 2007 and later changed the title of the mosque from Gaddafi Mosque to Uganda National Mosque in 2013 after the death of Col. Muammar Gaddafi.

UGANDA MARTYS’ CATHOLIC CHURCH

The catholic martyrs’ shrine also known as the catholic basilica was built in 1973 after 32 young Catholics and Anglicans were burnt alive after they refused to denounce their religions in the court of King Mwanga II in 1886. In 1973 the basilica was built in remembrance of the brave 32 souls.

NDERE TROUPE CENTRE

Ndere cultural center is a miniature of over 59 tribal traditions and cultures, the troupe captures many amazing cultural songs, dances, a variety of cultural instruments, and humorously informative stories which are presented authentically and artistically.
